This September marks 30 years of the Subaru Outback — a milestone that began in September 1994, when the original Outback debuted as a 1995 model-year trim package on the second-generation Subaru Legacy wagon.
What began as a rugged, adventure-ready take on the Legacy wagon soon became something much bigger. In 1996, the Outback stepped out from under the Legacy name and became a model in its own right, establishing a legacy of capability, versatility and adventure that continues to this day.
Three decades later, the seventh-generation 2026 Subaru Outback carries that spirit forward with a fully redesigned exterior, a refined interior and the latest in Subaru safety, technology and capability.
The anniversary is especially meaningful at Otto’s Subaru, which is celebrating 40 years in Ottawa in 2026. For four decades, we’ve had the privilege of sharing the Subaru experience with generations of local drivers — and today, we’re proud to welcome the latest Outback as another chapter in that story.
30 years of Outback. 40 years of Otto’s Subaru. A shared legacy of adventure.
